Overview
Mandarmani is a popular weekend destination from Kolkata. The beach is about 13–14 km long and is considered one of the longest motorable beaches in the country.
Some say it's one of the cleanest and best beaches in Bengal. It's also considered a good place for a picnic and bath.
Mandarmani is also known as Mandarmoni or Mandarbani. It was originally called Mandarboni after being discovered by fishermen, and was also sometimes called Madar Mani.
The best time to visit Mandarmani is October–February, which is peak season. July–September is the moderate season.
The nearest railway station to Mandarmani is Kanthi (Contai), which is 17 km away. From there, you can take a local trekor or motor van, or hire a car to reach Mandarmani.
